What is it about Carey's trilogy that you find off-putting, if you don't mind me asking? Is it the S&M stuff? For what it's worth, I think Bishop's Black Jewels trilogy, which is the only point of possible comparison that's coming to mind at the moment, is far, far more creepy than anything Carey does. But that's just me, obviously.
