I realized while I was in the shower this morning what it is that's making me cranky. The characters in Stevermer's book are all intelligent, thoughtful, decisive people, and they all have a sense of humour. All the characters in the last 3 MFA books I've read were the precise opposite. Anything further from the 'spirit of the Inklings' than characters with no sense of humour I cannot imagine. I'm going to refine some of these thoughts and post them to the MFA list to see what sort of response I get.
