Anyone bring up The Stories of Ibis? One of my favorite low-key robot books, with some interesting gender stuff iirc -- female-identified robot tells an antagonistic human a number of (fictional, non-autobiographical) stories, and at one point the human wonders why all the stories have a female POV, and the robot explains that since she has chosen to identify as female she prefers to tell stories about women. At least this is how it happens in my memory, although it's been a while so maybe that isn't actually how it goes down.
