I assumed that the focus on Hawai'i is because many Americans are unaware of any Pacific island culture besides Hawai'i, or assume that they're all the same. If there's long, dark hair, brown skin, swaying dancing, a lot of fruit, it must mean Hawai'i. feh.

My kids also kinda focused on the chicken (hei-hei), although one did discuss the lost heart and what it meant to the goddess. I thought he did pretty good for a 4 yo. He's the one that wants to see it again. His twin, another boy, would rather see Sing again.
