Booklog revamp

Successfully (I think) upgraded the booklog to MT 3.3 and added tags for authors. Go play with it and see if I broke anything anywhere?

(And if anyone with something other than Windows Firefox, IE, or Opera can tell me how the "categories" and "all posts" line up with the rest, that would be great. The idea is that it's indented the same amount as the first line in each paragraph, but as long as they aren't sticking out anywhere, I'll take it.)

Edit morning: your opinions, please:

Right now, the new setup has two bullet points at the end of the entry:

• categories:
• all posts about [author name]

The [author name] is linked to a search for all posts tagged by that author—if there is more than one other post about that author; otherwise the second bullet doesn't appear.

I can also list how many posts the search will pull up, either "one other post / X other posts," or all total posts if that was less confusing. An earlier version had this, and then I took it off because it seems like clutter; but what do you all think? Would you like to know how many posts you're going to be finding when you click on the author name?

The indenting on the bullets looks fine to me. A bit more to the right than the parindent (sorry, slipped into LaTeX mode there), but not unreasonable, and likely caused by the use of the bullets.

I'm getting a lot of "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ',' or ';'" when trying to select various month pages (eg, April 2006); since the O'Brian entries are giving a similar error, I suspect that it's a case of apostrophes in authors' names breaking things.

Yup, appears to have been the apostrophes. It's supposed to deal with those, damnit; probably it's getting screwed up because I stuck it in PHP (and I felt so clever:

Author search

I'd put the total posts for the author in parenthesis after the author's name (since the search results include the post you're coming from). And if there's a lot of results, it would be nice to sort by title (series order would be better, but I don't think you store that info).

I *do* store series order--that's what the numbers in parenthesis in the title are for (e.g., "Duane, Diane: (108) Wizards at War") (except for the Agatha Christie books, because frankly I couldn't be bothered), but the search page currently returns results in reverse chronological order by posting. I'm going to see if I can change that.

The category pages for individual genres and series sorts properly, but I don't know if anyone but me uses them.

While the booklog update lines up nicely, the individual calendars (page) are goofed up. I would like to offer suggestions as to the cause/repair if I knew anything about programming but, alas, I do not.

Thank you, but that's really profoundly unhelpful: can you at least give me a URL and an idea what it looks like on your end? Because I have no idea what you're referring to.
