Hey [livejournal.com profile] coffee_and_ink!

From the Noreascon 4 Preliminary Program:

Saturday 11:00am: Fantasy of Manners

How do we define it? How do we draw the line, and what is its appeal? Is it a truth (universally acknowledged...) that only women can write it?

You sure you can't make it to Worldcon?

(Kidding! But this is just the kick-in-the-pants I need to re-read Swordspoint like I've been meaning too.)

Well...

... I'm going to be at Worldcon, and me and Brenda Clough are actually starting to seriously pursue the idea of publishing "Terminators of Endearment, OR Pride and Extreme Prejudice", our Jane Austen/Terminator crossover. Would that qualify?

Looking forward to reading your write-up, eventually. :)

I'm on that panel, and I was hoping to ask you for a copy of the Fantasy of Manners list.

I liked _Point of Honour_ as well, but I think you're right - it's not quite as airily witty as I imagine most FOMs to be. It has a lot of grit to it, and if I remember (it's been a while), the main character was a little on the stolid side.

Ha. I look forward to your report.

If they get Kathryn Cramer to set up simul-blogging, I'll look in. ;)

You're not planning to bring the laptop to the panel to take notes? I hear it's the New Thing. ;)

Wait -- Labor Day Weekend? I think I'll be at a wedding in North Carolina, alas.
