Steven Universe S03E16, "Greg the Babysitter"

Baby Sour Cream is hilarious.

Rose's entire ignorance of humans is notable.

Steven requiring a song for backstory is very meta. And now he's getting notably speedy as well as strong.

(On that note: choose to grow up, indeed.)

This was very satisfying and a welcome depth-but-not-harrowing episode.

I loved this whole episode but I think my favorite part might have been a.) how weirded-out and judgy Vidalia is about Greg putting his new space alien girlfriend above his Art and b.) how single mom Vidalia is struggling with basically all the same stuff as Greg is, but accelerated a few steps due to being responsible for a small human.

I loved Rose's surprise about baby humans and adult humans being the same species - both pleasingly alien and a nice idea about how much we really change. It makes bb!Amethyst particularly interesting - suggesting she's not just "defective" because she comes from the Earth nursery, but also just enormously different from growing up on Earth. I guess she mirrors what's around her, starting small and getting bigger, and not knowing what she's for?

Hmm, interesting. I'd have to go back to the relevant eps to check, but it does suggest that a certain amount of the full-formed-ness is nuture, perhaps?

I suspect so. I'd have to check myself, but Amethyst in flashback does seem actually younger - obviously in appearance but I think even in behaviour?
