I thought it was creepy when Steven pointed at his gem and said not to forget that Mom would be coming, and I see why in the context of the full episode . . . but it's still kind of unsettling. Does he really conceptualize of his gem as being Rose herself?

Do we think Greg blew all $10 million, in the logic of episodic entertainment, so that it never comes up again? (Don't ask me what I could do with $10m, the answer would take a really long time.)

There are days I want to chart out how the series paces itself, and this is one of them.

Uh, I'm really tired. I loved this a lot--Pearl and Greg getting some healing and being more gentle with each other, the hotel staff being hilarious, Pearl up on the balcony's edge, everything. It's not quite the emotional complexities the show can hit at its best, but it was doing a lot and it did it pretty darn well.

This episode is probably going in my top ten, and maybe top five, just for the lines

I honestly expected, during that song Steven was singing, that the refrain about how "You both love me, and I love you" would come out once in Rose's voice.

yes, and that would be WRONG. I see someone claiming on the internet that there was a point where their voices overlapped, but I just rewatched that part and I don't agree.

Loved this episode to pieces. Pearl's song, and Steven's, both just blew me away. Also PEARL INNA TUX.

Agreed on the creepy re: Steven's gem. I don't think he does think of the gem as Rose herself generally - I think it was part of how, in a sign of him maturing, this was Steven's very conscious, active effort to get Greg and Pearl to talk about it and become a bit closer.

Which, on that note, I love that they danced as a sign & method of coming closer, even though they wouldn't fuse if they could.
