Kamakura is a beautiful place. Nikko even more so. (Although neither holds a candle to Kyoto, which you've already been to and shared with us.)

IIRC, one of the events that destroyed the temple the Great Buddha was once enclosed in was a Tsunami. Given the temple is almost a half-mile and eight stories up and away from the beach, that must have been some Tsunami...
