However, I find your comment ambiguous as to whether it is attempting to convey "I am sorry that you were offended" or "I am sorry that I did something offensive." The former is, of course, not actually an apology at all, and one that is sadly common in discussions about charged social issues, which is why I am sensitive to it. I present this to your attention particularly since this is presented as a statement for the record.
