I had contractions like that -- ones that lasted about as long as the interval between them. It was my first labor so I didn't realize this wasn't how it was supposed to be. I didn't really understand the whole concept of timing contraptions until my second labor when I did have gaps between them.
I was luckier in that the pain was definitely affected by positioning; while I couldn't sit down (at all) if I remained standing I was OK. But I still vividly remember the unremitting nature of things -- you have my sympathy.
My kids also had huge heads, so my sympathy with that as well. Here's wishing you a recovery as dull as your labor was eventful. And what a beautiful baby!
