For what very, very very little this statement is worth, although Disney hired a couple of Haiwaiian screenwriters to help with the story/script, the promotion for the film claims that the cultural depictions were largely drawn from/inspired by Maori/New Zealand/Samoan culture, not Hawai'i, and Epcot is connecting Moana to New Zealand more than Hawai'i.

The first half of Frozen is almost entirely sung-through; the second half is more YAY ACTION ADVENTURE wait we have to pause for a pointless song YAY ACTION ADVENTURE. I'll agree that the songs in Moana are much more evenly spread through the film.
