Wednesday morning links

Wednesday morning links are sitting in a newly-renovated car dealership waiting room that is extremely spacious and comfy. If only I'd known that they had free pastries too (though, admittedly, odds are against them being good).
If you've seen mention of racism and RWA's awards, the Ritas, the Guardian has a really good long look at the context and current issues.
The Guardian also has an interesting article on using the era of clothing for forensic purposes.
Atlas Obscura has two good articles on food and structural power dynamics: The Promise and Perils of Resurrecting Native Americans’ Lost Crops and The Subversive, Surprising History of Curry Powder. (I had no idea that curry used to be a widespread Thing in white American cooking!)
Over at the AV Club, lots of great crunchy detail about getting cats to act in movies.
Attention
yhlee: surprise drop of a new Angel comic.
notes on more Avengers: Endgame clips
I feel like I should stop watching the clips and reading the interviews that keep dribbling out, but two things.
First, turns out I can't properly blame the Russos for Carol's makeup: in this interview they say that within very broad parameters, hair & makeup are decided by the actors, and Larson filmed Endgame before Captain Marvel and was still working out the character. (Also Scarlet Johansson is to blame for all of Natasha's hairstyles!)
Second, I just really want them to get past the suspicion/hazing quickly because ugh. There's a new minute-long clip of that, and I wholeheartedly believe that MCU!Carol is a straight-up lesbian but I was still sad that she didn't have a history with Rhodey. (Iron Man was 2010, Google claims 16-22 years to make Lt. Colonel, it could have happened.)
+1 (thumbs-up, I see you, etc.)?
