Okay, the transition from Whose Line Is It Anyway to The 700 Club on cable is just cruel. Family Channel, please don't do that.

ObTangent: One of my old roommates in college used to set his TV to turn on to the religious channel in the mornings as an alarm, because what he heard would piss him off so much that he wouldn't be able to go back to sleep.

Heh.

In a similar vein, a (Jewish) friend of the family used to watch Jerry Falwell every Sunday morning, with the sound turned off. He couldn't stand the actual words, but it was great theater to watch the contortions he would go through while preaching.

Tangent: Once I turned on the TV and it was Garrison Keillor talking! Cool, I thought, but what's with the guy in dreadlocks singing into a mic? Turns out that was a Counting Crows music video (I think), and the receiver/amp was turned to the radio instead of the TV. I was confused for a while before I thought to check.
