New Saiyuki Gaiden

So there are scans of the new Saiyuki Gaiden chapter up, and of course I have downloaded them [*], hoping that the visuals would give me enough of an idea of what was going on to overcome the fact that I don't, you know, speak Japanese. A vain hope, alas; so this is a plea for links to translations whenever they appear.

[*] Yeah, I wasn't going to read it until I was done the re-read of Saiyuki, but one day last week I was really tired and cranky and needed to babysit my computer while not doing anything online, and I was weak.

Why isn't this licensed?

Also, how is it possible that Kenren is so much nicer to look at than Gojyo? Of the three adults in each version, Gojyo is at the bottom of my "pretty" list (except in that hat picture), while Kenren is very definitely at the top of the equivalent Gaiden list. It can't just be the hair, because Gojyo really did look dumb when he cut it off.

There's a second part of chapter 15? The folder I have labeled 15 runs from 00 to 21, and ends with the, uhhh, sword thing.

It was a zip file labeled 11-15, and also has a color side story with Homura.

Yeah, that's the same set I have--there's a jump in the narrative between the sword thing and the start of Ch. 16. A text translation of the missing bit can be found here (http://www.aestheticism.com/visitors/translation/zs_gaiden/gaiden_ep.txt), but I've never seen the accompanying pictures.

I am having trouble finding a couple chapters of Saiyuki Gaiden... I have it up to the point where Nataku stabs himself, and that's about it. Could you help me catch up to the present?

They have scans and translations of Saiyuki Reload, but you have to register... It's kinda difficult to explain, but I believe it has instructions on the website...

Is it the uniform? I wouldn't have figured you for a black-leather-and-skulls type, but one never knows... :)

Oh, are they your scans? Is this a problem? The page I found them on (http://www.anisoncentral.com/rfbanri1.html) didn't have any requests for commenting before taking or redistributing, and I was just trying to save their bandwidth.

Nope, it's no problem--do with them as you like; that's why they're there. :^) There's a contact e-mail at the bottom of the page for comments; have gotten 2 e-mails and over 850 hits, a ratio that isn't the most persuasive for offering non-watermarked scans. ;^) Ah well, that's fandom.

Distilled down as far as I can, I love it because it's so very good about always bringing it back to the richness of the characters, their growth and depths and interactions.

Be glad this is in text--if this were in person, you'd get a lot more stammering and flailing about with the hands and whatnot.

And hmm. I don't propose to get into manga at this point - not because I think I wouldn't like it, but because I think I would - but I kind of like hearing about it.

I'm weird like that when it comes to these things. I was content to watch other people play video games for years before I felt like picking up a controller and trying it myself. Certain things, I feel, require a surfeit of context before I'm comfortable experiencing them directly.

I didn't really read most of your posts, so if someone already said, sorry, but I didn't want to see any spoilers. I only have the 1st eight chapters, so if anybody knows were I could get some more recent scanlations, that would be sooo cool! Thanks ;)
