Lost 2.4, "Everybody Hates Hugo"

Arrgh, fake-out with the Jin English. I wonder if that was dubbed or the actor is that accentless?

Charlie all annoying and male-ego-bruised and jumping-to-conclusions and stuff, wonder-bitch getting me briefly on Sawyer's side . . . you know, the one thing the island didn't need was more annoying people.

I was sufficiently not paying attention that I initially missed what Hurley actually decided to do with the food and couldn't understand why Jack was agreeing.

The only thing that made me laugh all episode was watching the dog watch Shannon eat. Such a Lab. (This doesn't make up for the slow-mo instrumental sappy bit overall, though.)

And hah, Rose's husband is white.

Things that irritated me about this episode:

1. All the tension derived from "How stupid will they decide to write the characters as?" Why are they keeping this a Big Bad Secret, anyway? Will everyone really hate Hugo when he's acting in a sensible and mature manner? Will Hugo really blow up the food stash in a fit of pique?

2. Wise Old Black Woman to the rescue! Thanks for imparting to Hugo, with your wisdom and gentle smile, that violence is not the answer! Now, I hear that Neo boy is in some trouble back in the Matrix.

3. Showing the hobbit and the baby-chick again really drives home how much they've ignored all the non-bunker, non-raft characters so far. Although since the alternative is probably the drug relapse plot, well, that's fine.

1. I thought that possibly Hurley's mental health issues (whatever they are) were making a reappearance, but other than that, yes, stupidity all around.

2. I said, "Look, Mother Abigail's back!"
