And that word is:

. . . no.

Ooh, a book I have never heard of, that is greatly loved! *goes to find a copy*

(well, some good had to come out of the existence of this overly saccharine trailer...)

I clicked on it, violating my no spoilers policy, because I expected bad Shakespeare (I know the ending of *that* Winter's Tale). I had not heard of the book either, but am glad to know about it now. Thanks.

Yeah, I just. No. I loved that book once upon a time, and in my memory it's all hazy and glittery with snow falling gently past gaslamps and the white horse trotting gently into the marshes at the edge of the city. And the sled on the lake in the north.

Not... this. Argh.

I ... um. I agree: No.

Not a "No, just no." Just: "No."

It does not help that, of the four leads, only one and a half displays screen presence (Russell Crowe, are you phoning this in or something?), and from what I remember of the story, Jennifer Connelly's character has the least story to go with her.

Huh. I would have thought that book unfilmable.

*laughs at self* The beginning of the trailer confused me because I read too quickly and thought you were talking about Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
