In case you were ever dubious about those coins you see advertised on TV or magazines—or know someone, especially someone older, who buys them—

Sales of a particularly vile specimen thereof, a coin claiming to be made of silver recovered from a vault under the World Trade Center, have just been temporarily stopped by a New York State court judge for allegedly fraudlent marketing.

The U.S. Mint's Consumer Awareness page has good information about buying coins, especially about Hot Items that have recently been heavily advertised. (The National Collector's Mint, which issued the coin just enjoined, appears frequently in that list as selling things that often confused with coins issued by the Mint.)
