Now on Tor.com: LotR re-read: open thread, verse & what would you do? edition; and a long review of David Anthony Durham's Acacia.
(Hi from Montreal, where I am entirely behind on all Internet things but seem to have managed my first panel reasonably well. Now, to the grocery store.)

Date: 2009-08-07 07:20 pm (UTC)I noticed that at certain times you compare the books to movies and pacing, etc. I just wanted to comment on what I think is the biggest let-down of the movies (overall I love them): there seems to be no grasp of the huge scope of time that the story takes - the shear enormity of it. The movies seem to take place over a condensed (relatively short) period of time.
I'm looking forward to reading more.
