Also, wow do I not love Caron's cotton floss.

I've never used Caron's, prefer to stick with DMC and Anchor. What's up with Caron's?

I miss being able to cross stitch for longer than a few minutes at a time. It's getting so hard to hold the needle. *grumble*

This variant of Caron is an overdyed cotton floss, about twice as thick as DMC, and it was fraying and knotting and shedding on me all over last night.

I will try Thread Heaven on it before I go looking for something else; one strand of DMC is too skinny and I don't want to use two for blackwork.

Argh, nightmare! I've had the fraying problem with metallics, and it's so maddening! Timeless Stitches, the little needlecraft shop up by the winery, always says "Use beeswax!", but I've always found that to be more hinderance than help.

Half the reason the big heron marked blade I stitched for David years ago took so long was because the silver just really liked coming apart.

Yeah, it's been a long time since I worked with metallics, and the red dragon WIP will be an interesting reminder of how to do that . . .

People swear by Thread Heaven, so we'll see.

I find Caron a bit stiffer, but to me that's not bad. What bugs you about it?

Yeah, don't know how I got so lucky . . .

It was twisting fraying and knotting and shedding on me all over last night. I will try some Thread Heaven on it tonight--I'm only doing experimental bits before I start in on the actual bookmark, since I may do a set for Christmas gifts.
