Trailer. The AV Club says it starts airing next month on BBC One; no specific date on BBC One's website, nothing on BBC America about whether it will air simultaneous.
. . . I hate it. The frenetic music, the wizard-fu, the dull colors. I just about recoiled from the screen with wrong.
Of course I'll still watch it, but, ugh. I hope this is entirely unrepresentative.

Date: 2015-04-28 12:19 pm (UTC)I'm still hopeful, there are some things it would be great to see on screen, and yeah, it's very different and that itself is promising, but wow, I was super not impressed.

Date: 2015-04-28 03:02 pm (UTC)(Apparently it is standard BBC practice to only announce air dates two weeks in advance?! What is up with that?)

Date: 2015-04-28 06:44 pm (UTC)"In the Hall of the Mountain King" was very nearly the worst music they could have backed it with and I continue to feel it should be filmed like an Austen adaptation, not a contemporary dark fantasy. (I would also settle for a Richard Dadd painting.) Otherwise, having heard almost nothing about the project until now, I am heartened by the casting of Eddie Marsan as Mr Norrell, Marc Warren looks almost exactly like the book's illustrations of the gentleman with thistle-down hair (i.e., absolutely nothing like my mental image, but at least arguably canonical), I don't recognize the actor playing Strange at all, and everything else I am reserving judgment on. The script had better have done well by Stephen.
